Thanks for a highly educational and inspirational week of landscape photography technique and practice. I learned a massive amount, primarily about vision, learning to really look at the subjects we were shooting, ranging from the Cuillin, to the waterfalls, beaches and the rest of the rich landscape of the Isle of Skye. The detailed feedback on my composition and technique was invaluable. The food and accommodation were also first class.

Dear Colin
Many thanks for a wonderful week on the recent Skye and Torridon trip. As you will have realised, I am a relatively inexperienced DSLR photographer so I really enjoyed the opportunity to try out new things with my camera - without feeling pressured or rushed - in the glorious locations on Skye and the surrounding area.
The guidance you gave us, both in the field and through your inspirational tutorials, was enormously helpful and I appreciated the fact that with your intimate knowledge of the area you could take us as close as possible to ideal vantage points, giving us all the more time for photography when we got there. I took many shots, made many mistakes but feel I learnt a great deal and came away, not only with several images that give me great pleasure, but also the enthusiasm to go out and take more.
The trip was made even better by the excellent accommodation - comfortable and well-located - and by the social side - people in our group were really good company. I'll be back for more!

Sincere thanks for a very memorable photo workshop in Knoydart in May. I found it invaluable to draw from your years of knowledge and expertise in such an informal way. Even the professional photographers on the course deepened their understanding of landscape photography whilst sharing their knowledge with others. You have a rare quality of bringing out the best in people from all over the world whilst teaching them to create quality photographs. Everyone on our course enjoyed the course content, accommodation, superb food and lasting friendship which was as a result of your care and attention to every last detail.

What an amazing and enjoyable week we had as a group of ambitious photographers. Knoydart is a very special and particularly photogenic part of the world. This tour/course provided all we could want and more. Very well organised day trips, meals, people and a wealth of knowledge to boot. The course catered to all needs and requirements. I can visit any of the places you took us at any time, within reason! However what you gave, could only be given by you – if that makes any sense! Many thanks for the memorable week spent in and around Knoydart last month. A fantastic venue at Doune, great food, good company, brilliant trips out on the boat with Andy to remote islands, Mediterranean weather on Skye, Rum and Canna, inspiring tuition from you and lovely whisky to round off the evenings. Have about 400 shots on my card with 20-30 that I am pleased with. A unforgettable week spent with you and the rest of the group with an inspirational "Order from Chaos" tutorial together with good advice for me about aperture settings, different to much read elsewhere, this will set the course for all my future landscape photography.

My daughter and I had a wonderful week in Knoydart and the islands in great company with you and our group. I now know I can take better pictures and we both feel inspired to pursue our interest further. You were able to take us to places and photographic opportunities that we would not be able to find immediately ourselves. There were many highlights including, the beach on Muck, Bloodstone Hill on Rum, Laig Bay's amazing rock formations, and photographing the Cullin Ridge in glorious weather. The whole week was tremendous value for our money.

I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful and enlightening weekend at Dunkeld. You taught me so much about how to view the landscape and all that is in it. I learnt so much from your tutorials, delivered in a warm and friendly style - I could have listened to you for hours!! I found the group critique sessions a bit daunting, but exceptionally informative - it is so helpful to have your images reviewed by someone with your level of photographic knowledge and experience. Thank you for a fabulous weekend in Dunkeld. The combination of tutorials, practical exercises and post-practical-critique worked really well, and it is a tribute to your teaching that all of us made visible progress over the course of the weekend. An unexpected bonus was the insight into using Lightroom to enhance our pictures. I also really enjoyed the camaraderie that developed with the others on the course, creating a fun and supportive learning environment.
