How are Trips Structured?

Itineraries are the result of acquired knowledge and are orgainsied to capitalise on the optimum time to travel to specific locations or countries. It makes sense to take advantage of the best weather conditions for photography in each region and this ethos is fundamental to our planning.

On location you will experience a real time learning experience, where confronted by the elements you will have the opportunity to enjoy one-to-one tuition when you need it. Photographers are encouraged to shoot their own images and to maximise the photographic potential of each location. Help and advice is always on hand when there’s something you need to know.

Critique sessions each evening will give feedback of the days photography and allow you to comprehend what worked well and what didn’t. Remember, there’s more to be learnt from your mistakes than your successes – it’s simply a question of understanding why certain images didn’t work and modifying your technique accordingly. Digital photography has facilitated this accelerated learning experience.

Before dinner, a tutorial will be normally be given on a specific subject – these will vary during the tour and are designed to expand technique and creativity. Knowledge gained can be immediately put into practise on the following days shoots. 

Rather than setting specific photographic objectives each day, which in reality may be unrealistic due to location or weather, our aim is to maximise the photographic potential on the ground. Conditions may dictate a certain way of working and we adjust the expectations accordingly.

Group sizes are small and will be somewhere between 8 and 14 photographers. In addition to the knowledge and expertise of our tutors, a great deal can be learned from the networking experience with other photographers. Popular topics of conversation include, camera bags, tripods and RAW workflow.
