Skye without doubt offers some of the most varied and dramatic landscapes in Scotland. Renowned for the Cuillins, which are in a league of their own, the island features many other unique features including the Old man of Storr and the Quiraing on the Trotternish Ridge.
Its coastal scenery is no less dramatic and at particular points, superb views towards the Cuillin can be enjoyed at dusk and dawn.
Based at Balmacara, our accommodation is at a very comfortable refurnished country guesthouse, which is situated at Balmacara, three miles from the Isle of Skye and is perfectly positioned for exploring both the Skye and the western end of Glen Sheil where the mountain scenery is also spectacular. Here the Five Sisters of Kintail can be seen from Loch Duich and from elevated points on the Mam Ratagan.
Our itinerary is arranged to offer a wide variety of photographic locations both on the mainland and on Skye.
Our photography holidays are not classified by technical requirements as our small group sizes means that Colin Prior is able to offer one-to-one coaching, enabling you to improve your photography regardless of your starting skill level. The holiday is intended to be a combination between relaxation and expert photography tuition / learning.
We recommend that you have a reasonable level of fitness to join these trips, as each day will involve some walking to the photography destinations. Participants must be able to carry their own camera bags and be comfortable working in remote locations.
As a guide to fitness, you should be able to comfortably walk or hike, with your camera equipment, for a few hours each day. These will generally be low level hikes but the underfoot terrain may be rough in places with no discernable path and muddy or rocky sections.
It is your own responsibility to ensure that you are physically fit enough to join the trip. Please note, however that you can opt not to join any particular day and remain back at the guest house for a rest day if you prefer - it is a lovely place to relax.
If you have any questions regarding your suitability for this trip, please contact our office and speak to one of our team who can offer advice.
