Whilst focusing on landscape and travel photography, the course has something for everyone and includes tutorials and practical sessions encompassing the following:
Understanding your camera and its functions
Optimising light
Composition
Different types of lenses
Tripod use
Shutter speeds and apertures
Exposures
Depth of field
Methods of shooting images (raw, jpeg and other file formats)
Creative use of filters
Digital and its advantages when shooting landscape
Types of digital camera available
Metering


Being able to capture the landscape around you just as you see it, is often the desire for most photographers when on holiday or out and about. Managing that process isn't always as straight forward as simply clicking the button on your camera!
Against the wonderful backdrop of the Tay Valley in Perthshire, World Renowned Leading Outdoor and Landscape photographer, Colin Prior, will guide and help you understand how to use the environment and light around you to give you the best chance of success in capturing the landscape as you see it. Out on location you will be developing and practising your skills returning each day to the stunning Hilton Dunkeld House Hotel where you will enjoy luxury accommodation, exquisite food excellent service and of course the chance to go through your shots of the day with Colin.
There is even an early morning shoot for those keen to experience those 'Magic Hours' of light and still be back in time for a hearty breakfast! (Not compulsory)

Welcome reception and presentation – Understanding what makes a better photograph
Saturday
9.00 -10.30am
In this tutorial, Colin will help you to develop an approach, which will increase your chances of success when on location. He'll explore the concept of the ‘Limiting Factor’ and discuss how to shoot candid portraits using natural light, as well as giving advice on what equipment you should take.
11.00 – 4.00pm
Location – putting into practice what you’ve learnt and having fun!
4.00pm – 5.00pm
Hotel - optional critique session on the day’s shots.
6.00 – 9.00am
